8062   Welch, Spring & Co. “Verdi” wall clock.

This clock is in superior, original condition. It will be hard to find one with a nicer case. Usually these models have a significant amount of veneer damage and lifting but this clock is nearly perfect. It has a very clean, original finish and is ready to put on your wall. Usually the gold trim on the lower door has been lost due to cleaning but on this example there is very little loss.

The dial paint is original, clean and the numerals are very crisp. There is just a bit of paint loss at the center arbor. It has the original hands and a great pendulum which has never been polished. The bezel is brass and both glasses are the originals. It also still retains the black flocked paper behind the pendulum.

This is an eight-day clock with hourly strike on a resonant gong and there is a separate seconds dial. This clock was recently professionally cleaned and serviced and is running very well.

30 ½ inches tall.       SOLD

1065  Foster Campos,Pembroke, Mass.
lyre form banjo clock.

This is an example that anyone would be proud to own. It looks like it was hung on the wall after being purchased from Foster and hardly moved after that. The case is stamped “7  77” along with Foster’s banjo clock stamp on the inside of the backboard.

It has an excellent goldleaf glass, a perfect signed dial, the original pendulum and early style hands plus the original weight which is stamped “F. S. Campos, 8.”

Judging from the perfect condition of the painted metal panel behind the pendulum, it is quite probable that this clock has never been run. This is an eight day timepiece. The movement has the “F. S. Campos” stamp.

I would prefer not to ship this clock.

42 inches tall.              SOLD

1067   Elmer Stennes, Weymouth, Mass.
rare New Hampshire mirror clock.

Good Stennes clocks are hard enough to find but the New Hampshire mirror clock style is very seldom seen. I do not think very many were made compared to some of his other models. This black and gold colored case is in very good condition and the interior is exceptionally clean. The case is stamped “1  70  M.C.I.P.” The case sides are made of solid birds-eye maple.

The mirror and reverse painted/goldleaf glass are flawless. The dial is also flawless without even one chip at the dial mounting screws. It is signed and has the Stennes honeybee logo. It comes with the original hands, pulley and weight which is also signed.

This is an eight-day timepiece. I have not tried running the clock because I did not want to be the first one to put a scratch on the painted tin panel behind the pendulum.

31 inches tall.            SOLD

8078  Fine Gilbert jeweler’s “Regulator No. 9”.

This is a great looking clock with the bonus of having a solid cherry case with a burl walnut center panel. It was refinished a number of years ago and it has a very nice color. There are a few spots on the case that have a bit of old finish and a small spot of wall paint but overall it is in very good condition. The only case faults are the two small drop finials that are missing from the bottom front.

The porcelain dial is perfect without one chip or hairline. The hour and minute hands are the originals while the center sweep seconds hand is a perfect replacement. The side glasses are original and the door glass has been replaced. The pendulum is original, the 8 inch diameter brass bob has never been polished and it is perfect without a single dent or scratch. The weight and pulley are also the originals.

The movement mounting frame is stamped “W. L. G C Co.”

This is an 8 day clock with a heavy brass movement having maintaining power and a deadbeat escapement. It was recently professionally serviced and is in good running order. This will make a very impressive clock for that special spot in your home and it will be a precision timekeeper as well.

6 feet 6 inches tall.       SOLD
